Silent and Low Noise Laboratory Air Compressors – Lubricated and Oil-Free

MARC is the Australian distributor of Italian-made AIR-PRO (a brand manufactured by MG VICTORY SRL) low-noise and silent air compressors – ideal for indoor laboratory use. The AIR-PRO range of air compressors include oil-free and silent models and so are ideal for laboratories seeking a small or medium-sized compressor to mount into a cabinet below an AAS, TGA, XRF or other equipment requiring compressed air.

These compressors generate sound between 30 and 67 dB (depending on the model), and so range from virtually silent to something that can still be located within a lab but may be better off in a cupboard with sound absorbing foam (ideally) if its a quiet room.

Please note – these are indoor compressors that rely on clean, dry air and are not recommended for dirty external areas.

We have grouped the AIR-PRO compressors into “Quiet” and “Silent” groups. “Quiet” systems are generally oil-free and generate up to 67dB. While 67dB is not damaging to the ears (and it is below average office noise) it may start to get uncomfortable or distracting after a while when trying to work at a desk but is not likely to damage your hearing.

“Silent” AIR-PRO systems are even quieter at below 46dB. They are usually Oil-lubricated. Average Room Noise is considered as sound in the range of 30 to 50dB. These can still be located in cabinets but its not critical.

If in doubt – just go with a good oil-lubricated compressor. They are the quietest and so the most suited to indoor locations – and the oil mists can be filtered out with a range of filters. If you don’t know – a basic range of filter regulators that is easily available is:

3 µm > 1 µm > 0.01 µm > Activated Carbon

So oil in air is manageable!
